Who They Are: Telescope is a four-piece alternative rock band from Arizona. Their music is a product of the member’s diverse musical influences. The band draws from a number of artists that they listen to, but are most often compared to bands like Snow Patrol, Lifehouse, Collective Soul and Our Lady Peace. The four-piece group has been playing together since 2002 after brothers Seth and Jason Holland met up with drummer Seth Johnson, and later multi-instrumentalist Mike Seitz. After only a few rehearsals the four decided this was the band they had been longing to put their energy and efforts into.
The Album: After finishing their début fully independently record “For the Rest of Us” , the band developed a fresh idea for distributing their music. They would give it away for free, the whole record, to anyone who wanted it. “It is just this amazing way to get something you believe in, into the hands of the people you created it for” Says Seth H. The Big Idea: Telescope is beginning close to home. Their initial album release was preceded by the blanketing of their home-town of Flagstaff with close to 3,000 copies of the whole CD made available at local retail shops and coffeehouses. Just recently Telescope has made a push toward their next target, the Phoenix, AZ area. Recently the band distributed over 5000 copies of an album sampler that directed people to their website to download the remainder of the CD for free. “We have seen an incredible response from this small effort, and we are incredibly to see how the we can connect with new fans in valley.”
What Now: Look for Telescope to enter the ranks of one of the valleys most anticipated and accepted bands, following in the footsteps of some of the valley’s greats like the Gin Blossoms, The Refreshments, The Format, and Jimmy Eat World to name a few. “We still believe that music has something to say to people and is an iatrical part of everyone’s lives” says Mike.
